This article was published on September 11, 2008, the seven year anniversary of 9/11. The article discusses new technological wonders that allow people all around the world to witness the sights of ground zero and pay their respect to victims just by searching the internet.
"Second Life," a virtual world that exists over the internet, created a series of September 11 memorial events to be experienced by people over the web. Events that took place on this website included speeches, victim name readings, memorial dedications and tribute performances.
I think this technology is a really remarkable things, especially for people who lost loved ones in the September 11 attacks. It acts as a personal, visual coping experience that may not be possible when living so far away from New York City. It can allow people with common experiences to connect and share their stories and feelings and express emotions about this historic day in history. It allows people to feel closer and comforted.
This article is very valuable, because I never knew of this technology and I think it is something that could very valuable.
Never forget September 11. This site will keep the rememberance alive.

You bring up a good point of our reliance on technology for comfort and the feeling of freedom to express our emotions. It'll be interesting to discuss in class when Arianne introduces Second Life to us next Monday.
Yeah, I think virtual worlds like Second Life have a lot of potential for helping people connect over long distances.
